My family are back in the UK, were incredibly close and I miss them heaps. I've also made great friends in Australia but the connection is no where near as close that I have with old friends in the uk. I'm also missing the culture, closeness to Europe, humour and still feel a bit like an outsider here in Oz.
My hesitation to move back is mainly work, worried that we won't find decent work as we have here and if it might be the wrong decision just because in suddenly homesick.
Anyone done the move back to the uk after living in Oz? Would love to know people's feedback/advice/stories.
Thanks
It's estimated two thirds of British emigrants return home within 2 years. Why nt look at the work situation and get interviews lined up before you come back. Have you thought about where you would live? Money? As you have been living outside the UK for five years you will not be eligible for most benefits, social housing etc.
Some friends have just returned after two years in Australia biggest mistake they
have ever made no problems finding suitable jobs
Couldn't stand the weather in Australia myself. Or the people.
The UK is heading for even more economic recession and the service economy
isn't really creating careers but instead people are stuck in low grade minimum pay
jobs with no contractual terms and conditions.
Hi i have seen many excuses for what is a fact that you just can't cut it out in OZ. so you want back to where you where in a comfortable little hole.
