If you are a EU citizen you have the right to live and work in Spain, though I don't know where you expect to find work. The unmployment rate for your age group is over 50% and any job vacancies will be offered to unemployed Spaniards, not to an unskilled foreigner who can't speak the language. And living on the streets will be bad, very bad. The local homeless people will not accept you, you will have no food, and no shelter and you'll certainly need that in winter and bad weather. Prostitution is the only way to make money!
And, if you are not from the EU, you can only stay in Spain for 90 days as a tourist. Overstay your visa and you'll be an illegal alien with no rights. You will not get any kind of work simply because employers will not risk takng on an illegal when there are so many Spaniards and other EU citizens willing to work, legally, for low wages. You will be hiding from the authorities because, when you are found, you will be immedately deported and a stamp put into your passport banning you from the Schengen Zone for several years. This stamp will also mean that most countries will deny you entry because you are a potential visa overstayer. And you will be expected to repay the cost of deportation.
Yep - it's a great life sleeping on the cold streets of a foreign country where no one cares what happens to you.
You are 22, it is going to be extremely tough for you to find a job there right now. Do you speak Spanish? Keep in mind that if you're not in a big city, chances are most people will not understand English at all (I am from Spain.)
I would recommend you try to look for a volunteer program or something to study there. Perhaps you can find a scholarship to attend a school. That would give you some support and it will definitely be safer than just showing up there with nothing to do. Also you may want to check out "au pair" programs, where you stay with a family, take care of the kids for a few hours and maybe teach them some English. I bet many families look for that and I'm sure there are organizations out there who can arrange that for you.
With all due respect Mr. Terry life is either a daring journey or nothing....I can understand you are in a predicament but you have to be prudent & most importantly thoughtful....
Firstly without money it would be difficult to survive in country where there has been already 28% unemployment, its economy has been clobbered and moreover I doubt if the government can provide with any endowment in the next few years.
Then again, if you have a good insight on SPanish language and perhaps you can acquire a diploma or degree then the future could be rosy. As you have mentioned you have nothing to loose, no money and even considering staying on the street...my question is HOW LONG ?
Please do not jeopardize your life by making farcical decisions, there are other things in life that can certainly make you competent and may offer you a better position.
I wish you all the best and remember, Success is not final, failure is not fatal, it is the courage that counts...
Spain has very high unemployment at the moment.
You are a US national? Not going to happen, love.
Staying on the streets anywhere makes you a vagrant. For you to attempt to move to Spain would make you illegal. So you'd be both illegal and a vagrant - assuming, of course, that you are actually permitted to board the flight in the first place. Which I doubt.
You don't sound very bright. I'm not sure you have anything worth losing, which is not quite the same as not having anything to lose.
wait 2 or 3 years
LOL good luck, you'll need it. There's no unemployment support.
I want to start a new adventure in my life! I was recently on holiday in Spain and want to move there,
I have no Money, and No job when I get there! ..... I know theres alot of people that will be like 'Your Stupid' and stuff, but hey! I'm young! ...... I can get money for flights but no accomadation ..... Surely staying on the streets in Spain can't be that bad right?
I'm 22 I have nothing here, and also have nothing to lose if I go there right?
Whats your thoughts?
