Must do's when visiting Spain!?

You must remember your passport

Be able to speak Spanish fluently. Next to Poland, the Spaniards speak the least English in all of Europe. I

Visit Barcelona. It is a huge party town for the young people from all over the world, and is a beautiful city on the Mediterranean.

Learn their culture. Bullfights, fiestas, puentes, Rastro in Madrid. There is so much to experience.

Well, I'm going to Spain in the summer, so I've already started looking over what you can do there.

In Barcelona, you can visit the Parc Guell and the Sagrada Familia (Sacred Family) Cathedral, which are both designed by the same architect (Gaudí). Gaudí used very abstract designs with a lot of curving, non-traditional shapes and you can see other examples of his designs throughout the city. The Parc Guell is filled with unique sculptures make from little pieces of colored glass (or tile maybe). The Sagrada Familia is still unfinished, but it currently has four tall, skinny towers and is recognized as a symbol of Barcelona around the world.

In Pamplona, you can see and participate in the Festival de San Fermín in early July, which lasts about a week. It starts with the famous Running of the Bulls.

You can go hiking in the Pyrenees Mountains, which line the border of Spain and France, or sunbathe on the amazing beaches on the mediterranean coast on the south and east of Spain.

In Toledo, you can walk through the narrow, dark alleyways and see medieval archetecture and a museum full of painting by El Greco, who is famous for his morbid, surrealist works of art.

The soccer games are pretty intense, with Madrid and Barcelona being archrivals. I hear the fans go crazy.

Sevilla and the surrounding cities are filled with Moorish (Muslim) archetecture. In Sevilla, you can see the Alcázar, a magnificent royal palace that mixes both Moorish and Catholic influences in its structure and decorations. Sevilla is famous for its ham and flamenco, a unique form of dance that I think combines elements of muslim, jewish, and gypsy dances. Also, you can find really rich hot chocolate throughout Spain.

Well, of course, since this is your homework, YOU should be figuring this out, not asking us to do the work for you.

Good luck with your homework!

A tip: Grenada is an island in the Caribbean.

For a school project, we were all assigned different countries to "visit". My partner and I got Spain!! Now we have to pretend we went on vacation, and come up with different things we did there. It could be anywhere! Madrid, Barcelona, Grenada etc.. Does any one have any good ideas of cool and neat things we could have done? Thank you for all the help (:
