My God...."Catalonia Square" in Catalan language is "Pla?a Catalunya" and in Spanish Plaza Catalu?a, it has not anything to do with Pla?a Joan Amades. Catalonia is the country the capital of which is Barcelona (officially an autonomous region) and Joan Amades is a Catalan person's name: he was a Catalan ethnologist http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joan_Amades
Pla?a Joan Amades is a quite small square at the Raval neighbourhood. It's so small nobody know it by the name, not even me, because it gets past Carrer del Carme and it looks like a section of that street and not a real square.
Raval:

It means "Catalonia Square" in English and is a large square in central Barcelona. Some of the city's most important streets and avenues meet at Placa Catalunya. Thus, it is generally considered to be the city centre. It is known for its fountains, statues and its proximity to some of Barcelona's most popular attractions.
As Xinoxano says, it is not really a square and is in the very seedy Raval.
There is a nice courtyard in the nearby Catalan archives building where one can find coffee and a toilet.
google it.
Does anyone know anything about the Placa de Joan Amades in Barcelona? Any information about the place will do. Thanks so much.
