Sending letter from USA to UK (help)?

I'm sending a fan mail to London for J.K. Rowling. It's about three pages long, and I know the address, but I just need to know what to use for postage, and do I simply put it in my mail box or do I need to go to a specific place? I'm clearly quite clueless.

You can mail a letter to the UK in the usual way - take it to the post office and ask how many stamps it will need.

But if you want to send fanmail, keep your letter to just a few words.

Rowling is a busy woman and won't be interested in reading three pages from anyone.

A few lines is all that's needed. Her secretary will be the one to read it anyway - she'll only get to read a few letters if her secretary decides they're particularly interesting to her.

Just a "Hi, I love the books and can I have your autograph?" is quite enough.

Are you 6? Go to a Post Office

This is a question to address to the USA's postal service, not to the 'UK travel' section.

This has nothing to do with traveling in London. What you need to do is either go to the closest US Postal Office or go to http://www.usps.com and in put the information there to find out what postage is needed.

Best is to take it to the post office where it will be weighed to determine the exact postage.
