Americans are fed that line in advertising so they will buy and buy, etc. Now advertisers want you to buy a home alarm system. And often they will charge you a monthly fee to monitor this. Fear is not the way to live your life. You are giving in to fear and terrorism.
I myself have dogs and a handgun at home.
If you do cancel a transatlantic trip, you will not ever receive cash back. They already have your money. Who do you think will get to keep it? At best, you would have a travel voucher, and that expires, you know. So at some point you are going to have to travel.
Are you going to give in to terrorism, or are you going to live your life? Cancelling a trip means giving in. You do realise your chances of bring involved in a car accident are far, far higher than ever bring caught up in a terrorist attack.
There has not had a large scale terrorist attack aimed at ordinary people since the 2004 Madrid Atocha Station bombings. In the USA the last attack was the Boston Bombings, plus all the home grown school attacks etc. I know I would feel safer in any European country in preference to the US.
Of course you should not cancel your trip. I don't think we'll walk around carrying an American flag, but my wife and I are going to Hungary, Austria & Germany in May, and we haven't even discussed cancellation.
Um, of course you could stay in your home country and wait until the next terror attack will take place there. No, this certainly isn't a prediction or an imprecation, but what I wanted to say is that potential terror attacks can happen in the entire Western world. If you want to be completely safe, you better hide yourself in an underground shelter for the rest of your life.
It's your choice to make, but I'm not going to cancel either of the trips I have scheduled.
You have a 100 times greater chance of being accidentally shot in the US than to be victim of terror in Europe. More people were killed by guns in the US last week than were killed or injured in Europe in terror attacks in the past 5 years
I live in Europe, and this is the first I'm hearing of a 'high terror alert'.
If you don't want to come to Europe, then don't come. Invest in 40 tons of cotton wool and go wrap yourself in it for the rest of your natural life.
High terror threat in Europe? You're kidding.
Is this a serious question? I live and work in London and havent heard of an imminent terrorist attack? What a load of silliness.
If your guts tell you to do so, you may. If you are scared to the point you think about this situation at night, do it. Better safe than sorry like most say, but if I were you, nah.
