I am accompanying my Husband on a 2 week Business trip to the UK on March 14. We would be staying in Sheffield for a week and then for a week in London. Can any one be kind enough to answer a couple of questions as this is my first time to UK
1. He would be at work during the week days, so my question is, are there any places which I can visit by myself in Sheffield? Is it safe? What are the good places to eat as we would be staying in a hotel at Norfolk street.
2. Same question for London. Weekend we are planning to go to the usual sightseeing places but anything i can do by myself during the weekdays?
3. Warner bros studio tour. Unfortunately the only slot available for the weekend is at 6:30 in the evening and the studio closes at 10:00 . Are 3 hour sufficient?Worth the money?
4. Heard so much about Simpsons in the Strand. Am a foodie so is it worth visiting or just hyped up?
PS: I am from India by the way.
Thanks.
1. The country areas outside Sheffield to the west are lovely (Peak District National Park http://www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/)
2. Near Sheffield - you would find Chatsworth House interesting - an insight into what the English are reeally like http://www.chatsworth.org/
3. Simpson's In the Strand has recently changed owners, and may disappear http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/society/... Grab the opportunity to see it before it is gone. As Garry says, make the booking NOW.
4. London is perfectly safe for a woman alone during the day, and there is so much to see and do that you could spend months just digging into the things that interest you. One useful tip is that whenever you visit a public art gallery or museum, they all have pleasant simple restaurants/cafes for your lunch.
London is full of things you can do - but it rather depends what you're interested in. Art? Music? Film? Shopping? Markets? History? Architecture?
You may have problems amusing yourself for a week in Sheffield. It is an industrial city and not really a tourist spot, but have a look here https://www.sheffield.gov.uk/out--about/...
4. You might have left it a bit late to book a table at Simpsons, (unless you meant March 14 next year).
