The United Kingdom will not enter a conventional war with Russia. If we did then we would lose in less than four days. This figure is based on the Cold War estimates when our army was twice the size that it is now, and the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force were over three times their current size. The UK armed forces could not even fight a Falklands size war any more.
So conscription would be an irrelevance - you couldn't train enough raw recruits in time.
The US would not have time to get involved.
If Russia invaded the EU in a serious and meanigful way (ie. they intended to reclaim their old Soviet countries) then nuclear war would be almost certain. The West does not have sufficient conventional armed capability to stop them. The Russians know this, which is why they have restrained themselves from invasion for so many decades. The nuclear deterrent works! That's why it has kept us from WW3 for the last 60 years.
NO.... the UK will not "go to war" with Russia and if the US have any brains in their head neither will they and NO conscription will never be reintroduced in the UK for this reason although I would support conscription for other reasons, if only to instill some discipline, pride, time management and work ethic into a disinterested and benefit entitlement thinking society of both genders
Ask this in the London Answers section. Russians don't know (well, spies do, but they don't go to Yahoo answers.) WHAT England would do if UK attacked the old rival, Russia.
As for conscripts, I think Putin would call on all Englishmen from 14-69 to join the ranks, grab their Enfields, jump in the Range Rovers and head to Stalingrad. There he would instruct them on Ukraine's atrocities, Georgia's misgivings, and soon head to Iran to rouse some anti-ISIS fighters and clean up the Mid-East.
Then the fight would be on, i.e. WHO owns all the conquered territory? USA or China?

Conscription would be useless. It takes too long to train a modern soldier. A shooting war would be over too quickly.
Hi yes if we went to war which would only last 48 hours blown apart by nuclear bombs.
if the UK goes to war with Russia, you will have much more to worry about than just being conscripted
