What do you think of Wales?

I'm not Welsh, but I was born in Wales and currently live here. I know there's the whole joke of Welsh people being "sheep shaggers" (I want to laugh at the alliteration, and at the same time don't want to be an insensitive prick to my friends), but I'm just curious to know what your opinions on Wales/Welsh people are, as I don't seem to know much about what people think of Welsh culture generally...some people haven't even heard of Wales (seriously, when I went to America, San Francisco to be exact, hardly anyone had heard of Wales).

I love rural Wales. Welsh people are the same as everybody else. I have met some lovely Welsh people and also some stinkers.

Used to live there, was born and bred there, until I moved. Rural Wales is stunning, dramatic landscapes and beautiful coastline are abundant. For a tiny place it has a huge amount of varied geology, which creates these beautiful places. Sadly most towns and cities are pretty unremarkable, some are pretty grotty and depressed with low unemployment. There are of course lots of beautiful Welsh towns and cities - St Davids comes to mind.

Wales has tons of culture, which like most places, varies between localities. We are very proud of our heritage. Some places are 'friendly but insular' so the culture isn't perhaps as well known as Scottish culture.

I travel the world and most people haven't heard of Wales. Most seem to have some vague notion that it's 'part of the UK', but it's not that well known. There's good and bad from that. Wouldn't want Wales to end up like a rich person theme park, like some parts of Scotland have become. But at the same time, Wales and the Welsh people have played many important parts of global culture, history, geology etc.

Would love to move back there some day.

I've lived in Roath, Cardiff and travelled all around the South Wales area and by and large the Welsh are an agreeable folk and their country is a nice place.

Wales is a country that is part of the United Kingdom and the island of Great Britain, bordered by England to its east, the Irish Sea to its north and west, and the Bristol Channel to its south. It had a population in 2011 of 3,063,456 and has a total area of 20,779 km2 (8,023 sq mi). Wales has over 1,680 miles (2,700 km) of coastline and is largely mountainous, with its highest peaks in the north and central areas, including Snowdon, its highest summit. The country lies within the north temperate zone and has a changeable, maritime climate.

I would like to live there to work for a year. I have heard a lot of positives of Wales and recommended to go there. Cardiff University also one of the best in the UK based on the rankings.

I dislike Welsh people as much as I dislike those of every other nationality. I think the natural landscape of Wales is one of the most beautiful in the world. The towns and cities are mostly grotty

I AM WELSH & always make sure they KNOW where & what is when in the US.....Do NOT tar all of us with same brush as the VILE Language Mafia types....
