Spain is like Spain, you can't compare this country to another.
Well, Spain has got a lot of culture, history and monuments. The food is really nice and the "Menú del día" is often cheap and good.
The weather is good, in summer, Spain is a really hot country so you cann go to the beach, for example, in Valencia, Málaga or the Islas Canarias. In the winter, the most of cities are very cold, even snows.
The cities, like Madrid, Barcelona or Sevilla there're really beautiful with nice monuments and good landscapes.
Spain is a cheerful country.
In the past had a lot of wars.
The "Spanish War of Independence" ( Guerra de la Independencia Espa?ola), in which Napoleon's legion invaded Spain.
Was a very unfair war. Even the painter Goya painted "Los fusilamientos del 3 de mayo" in honor of those who rebelled.
Also the invasion of the Muslims was amazing. An important monument it's the "Alcázar de Sevilla" (really beatiful and incredible).
Don't forget the Romans. "El Teatro Romano" in Mérida it's an amazaing monument that the Romans left.

It depends if you want spanish history or what it is now like to holiday or live in spain? Spain is a big place so it is different in every area, it also depends where you are from to compare it but presuming you are from England then some parts of Spain are like a very warm Blackpool, other area can be similar to places like Newquay but a lot of the Spanish resorts now have a lot of immigrants from Pakistan/India/Africa/Morocco. Unemployment in Spain is very high. I found the supermarket food prices are double what we pay in UK, Good Luck
