Slavs are Ukrainians, Poles, Slovaks. Russians are just a mix of eastern slavic tribes, with a little addition of ugrofinnic people and HUGE additions of mongolian blood. Russia was for almost 400 years their vassal, and mongol were famous for their constant rapes.

For us, western, pure Slavs, a lot of typical russians have very strange, asiatic facial traits, but they will always deny this :)

The Rus are from a Scandanavian descent (the first Rus leader was man named Rurik from Scandanavia), mixed with Slavs over time after the formation of the Kievan Rus, making the Rus... well Russians its own ethinicity. Some call them Sami people. Slavs are from Ukraine, Belarus Latvia etc. They are the original Slavs. Russia has myths similiar to both Scandanavia and Slavic myths.

Oh, and in English Russian may also mean a Russian citizen. That person, of course, may be of any blood, culture or language.
