What is the spanish royal familys role in spain?

Do they hold as much power as the royal familiy in the UK? what are the differences?

Wining and dining heads of state. Opening new factories etc. The usual.

They do as parliament tells them. Not a bad thing.

They are poor compared with the UK royals. The King here would not be allowed to sell biscuits.

Like their UK counterparts, the Spanish Royal Family is a constitutional monarchy. Constitutional monarchy means that the powers of the Head of State (the King of Spain) is written into the country's constitution, and generally these powers are very limited. This means the king or queen's role is mainly ceremonial, they do not rule the country.

The UK Royal Family have no power whatsoever, the British Government runs the country, not the Monarchy.

Well, the king is the king. He's a figurehead like the queen in the UK, but he has more power...not all that much, but more. He actually takes a part in government. He was PLANNED (by Franco) to be a dictator, like Franco, but he is smarter than that.

zafir Why does the prime minister visit her every week on matters of state,

I'd rather have a Monarch as head of state than some presidents in the US and Europe who seem to be interested in getting their names into the history books and forgetting why they were put there
