Soccer is much more popular than bullfight.
According to a recent survey, 72% of Spaniards are NOT interested in bullfight and it's even banned in some territories like Catalonia (capital Barcelona) and the Canary Islands.
Soccer is a religion for a lot of people in Spain and during a match FC.Barcelona - Madrid you will practically see nobody in the street.
Hi! I'm Spanish.
SOCCER!!!! ;-D
Most Spanish don't like Bullfighting, but they respect its followers. Most young Spanish think is a cruelty and support its abolition. There are even a political paty, PACMA (The anti-bullfighting party) which does not yet have a seat in the Parliament, but is gaining a lot of votes from the youth.
Soccer is so important that sometimes talking about football is so inadequate as to talk about religion or politics. ;)
Cultural note: The "plazas de toros" are not only used to torture animals: They are amphitheaters, and proved to be a good venue for concerts, spectacles and some sport activities.
Soccer by far. About 50% of Spaniards are real soccer fans.
Only about 30% are bullfight aficionados that's only about 15 million people.
Soccer, by a long shot...the national sport and all that.
Bullfighting or Soccer?
