Why ALL Europeans dislike beard ?

Posted at: 2015-06-30
Yes , ALL Europeans (almost %85 of them) dislike the BEARD.I'm from Texas/Austin so I'm an American.I'm a ball player , I play baseball and I have full beard.I always chew a pigtail , I always Baseball jerseys on me etc. I mean I'm a typical baseball player and my appearance is almost same as Brian Wilson from Los Angeles Dodgers. My beard is not long as his but its still big like Johny Hendricks' from UFC.

My girlfriend really wanted to go to Europa and I saved some money and my father also helped me out about cash so I made a surprise to her.

Whatever , recently we went to the Europa with my Girlfriend. We went to UK , France , Belgium and Holland. We went to shopping , cafes etc. and people always gave me that disgusting look. They made me feel like as If I'm a criminal or something , I don't know.Especially in when we were shopping in Belgium , there was this saleswomen came at me and asked me to wait outside of the store ? And I still can't believe in myself that I couldn't tell anything and just went out.My girlfriend got so pissed on her and I made her stop. And then we were on the train in Holland and almost EVERYBODY on the train looked at me as if I'm an alien.Plus I've never seen anyone in Europa who has full beard just like mine. It's just countless how many times I had those eyes on me , people were staring at me with hatred and anger ? I'm so serious about that.My girlfriend and I really bothered and regretted.

Why people hate bearded men that much in Europa?

Beard is in fashion where i live

First of all on behalf of my fellow Dutchmen; I'm very sorry that you and your girlfriend felt so unwelcome. In my experience the Dutch are very welcome to tourists so I'm ashamed you met met the ones who weren't.

On the beard: we don't dislike beards but we can not always understand the fascination that Americans seem to have with them. Besides they are only in fashion with a small group of people over here. About the stares; it might be a combination of your beard and the baseball jerseys; you won't see many Dutchman wearing sports cloth unless they're actually sporting. It's just not our thing. Why they would stare with anger or hatred: I couldn't tell you but I can't imagine it would have to do anything with beard wearing Muslims.

Again; I'm sorry your trip to our beautiful country turned out to be disappointing.

I've never heard an American ever call Europe "Europa"! And your level of English suggests you are not American.

However, I suspect that, if you were chewing tobacco while you were in Europe, that is why people might have been disgusted with you. It wasn't the beard, but the constant chewing which is considered bad manners. Same as chewing gum with an open mouth, it's just rude.

I don't think it's hate, or about the bear. Some people might be curious, maybe a number of people didn't like your general appearance. Many Americans speak in a loud voice, which is considered rude in Europe, but apparently you also chew tobacco often and that is very uncommon in Europe. Eating on a train, unless it's a sandwich, is not considered polite, but chewing something that possibly looks disgusting to people who aren't used to it and needs to be spat out, that's not acceptable. There are many people with beards, granted often not as full as you claim yours to be, but they don't spark animosity.

It's because islamics believe having a beard is a requirement to be a muslim, and muslims are a problem in Europe today. Most likely, your beard looked like an islamic beard.

Troll. If you're American, you can be ashamed of your English. And no, people in Europe have nothing against beards.

Dude friend of mine have been there , he is also bearded and I heard the same things for him too.I think we should shave before we go there ? Huh ? By the way whats wrong with his English ? ??? Whut ? :D

Big long beard AND chewing tobacco? Eew.
