I don't hate Boris Johnson. He's a breath of fresh air among today's plastic politicians.
I hate him because he pretends to be a clown which he is not, in order to push through some extremely distasteful polices like cutting the programme to make more Underground stations accessible for the disabled. He has completely failed to deal with London's housing shortage for essential workers. He has wasted money on the 'New Routemaster' bus which costs treble the mass produced ones. Also Boris bikes and the chair lift over the Thames which have been unnecessarily subsidised by the council tax payer.
His hair has just always been like that. So what? And one thing he's actually DONE is the London bike hire scheme, having got Barclays to sponsor it. Definitely something he wanted to do as he loves cycling, and thanks to him, more people can - for the last few years in central London it's been possible to pick up a bike from a secure bike rack, ride it around, put it back there or in another bike rack, and pay by the hour. Not the world's most earth-shattering policy but it's more than Ken Livingstone ever visibly did as Mayor.
He can't be that much hated when we Londoners voted him in as Mayor twice!
People who don't like him just don't like Tories anyway. He certainly does take politics seriously, and he's not the buffoon he looks. You don't get into Oxford without a good brain. He's not your average slick politician with a programmed answer for everything, that's all, he's just, well, Boris. And I, for one, like that he's different.

Don't know that he is particularly hated... Any politician in office gets a lot of flak. Eccentric, maybe, but not so stupid as he sometimes appears. An improvement on the Livingston era.
