I mean it's cool, but I'm wondering, is it like to pay tribute to the former USSR or because Russia was RSFSR at the time? Just figured they would only have the Russia Federation flag and stuff, anyone know?
it is not USSR logo. It is big copy "Order of the Patriotic War" - military award for participants of the war.

", is it like to pay tribute to the former USSR " - no, it is like to pay tribute to those who were protecting their homeland from foreign invaders.
"they would only have the Russia Federation flag and stuff" - what do symbols of modern Russia have to do with memory about events of 1941-1945? Parades take place not because modern Russians like to "parade", it is a tradition with certain order of events, timing, with symbols, representing people of 1945, not modern people.
At the time the Soviet army kicked the Germans out, they were the Soviet Union. Russia honors and celebrates its past. They dont want people to forget how heroic their soldiers were. Even in the U.S. people dont erase their history. How many Confederate flags are still flown?
simply, 70 years of communism washed their brains pretty well, plus ruling by the KGB officer, who miss good old days of soviet tyranny is not helping either. After coming fall of putin, russians will need their own nurberg trials for communists
70 years of communism brainwashed them. It's dificult to change people's mentality. They even justify Stalins crimes.
