But from outside of the UK, British Politics is always being heard about. Spitting Image was an adored TV show that made fun of British Politics, The Iron Lady was a very successful film. During the Scottish referendum, there was a turnout of 85%. I remember talking to this British lady about education in Britain and Australia and she told me who the Minister of Education was right there and then. In Australia, most people don't even know who the Deputy Prime Minister is. I was watching a whole bunch of British videos and was amazed at how well everyone knew who all these politicians where and what they wanted.
I mean, Britain just seems to do nothing but talk about their politics. Why?
Probably 'cos we just do it better....... while most countries seem to be run by dull grey men in suits who stick to stale old policies regardless of whether or not they're any good, the UK has people like Boris Johnson + Daniel Hannan + Owen Paterson + Philip Davies + Nigel Farage who express themselves in a slightly more colourful way when doing politics, and are also not afraid to rock the boat and speak up about the when things aren't working.
You do know we get that from all countries right? I'm sure the UK media post news about China or the US or Ukraine, Russia etc. Not like they will post news about celebrities in respective countries.
Politics is important but I wouldn't say the UK love politics.
Most British people understand that if you are a person who does not care about politics, you are a person who does not care about your own future or the future of your country. If you do not take part in the political debate about your country's future, you have no right to complain when it turns out different from what you wanted.
And this thought applies to everyone in the whole world - countries which are dictatorships, are that way because their people are allowing it to happen, maybe even want ti that way.
I agree with RR and except for the Scottish Referendum vote turn out of voters at elections is small and falling. My local county council was elected on a 22% turnout and even at general elections two only two thirds of those on the electoral register, bother to vote
Hi some of us know it has to be a labour government next time as the british can't take pain really.
I dont know anyone that talks about politics..so i'm a bit lost on your question.
In every day conversation, hardly anybody talks about politics. Most of us are cynical about our politicians. We certainly don't love them.
Because we don't trust each other not to do something really stupid.
