You don't take the enemies territory anymore when you fight a war now. You take their banking system and their property. However, why would Spain take over Portugal? Are you American?
it would be like when Germany took over Communist Germany,. it cost them a fortune. Spain is in no shape to take over impoverished countries. What they should do is decolonize the Canary Islands, Sell Ceuta and Melilla to Morocco and take over Gibraltar by force.
I'm from Spain, and we are in the twenty one century, not in 1500, so we don't want to be an Empire anymore, we respect our neighbours, and Portuguese people have the right to live in peace in their country.

I don't get it. So everyone knows Portugal is basically a failed empire.. Plus Portuguese is like a ripped-off retarded sounding Spanish. Why doesn't Spain just invade that little part of land to their left and make it theirs? It couldn't be too hard. They could make the Portuguese living their assimilate to their language, which shouldn't be that hard either since the languages are similar. (and don't worry the language won't die cause theres tons of Portuguese speakers in Brazil still) It's kind of like an OCD thing too.. that little part of land BELONGS to Spain and it should be united to make one glorious Spanish empire. What do you guys think?
