The Greeks of old endorsed killing children (by exposure) and the intellectuals felt that homosexuality was preferred to heterosexuality. The legacy of rebellion against God is still on them to this day.
The US just practices the same things in newer ways and the same fate awaits this nation if it does not repent. The proverbal hand writing is on the wall- "You have been weighed in the balances and found wanting"! We are no longer a nation that promotes righteousness but instead practice every abomination that can be identified!
Poor? Greece is actually very RICH... in culture, history, food, traditions, beauty, sunshine...
Sure, the economy isn't the best.. but hey, "some countries are so poor, all they have is money."
And thank goodness Greece isn't one of them ;)
Some do not pay their share of taxes.
The economy has collapsed and many are without work.
Because of politics...they weren't responsible
Historically it suffered economic stagnation and depredations under the Ottoman Empire , and since 1830 when the new Hellenic State was put together it has suffered many more upheavals , wars and turmoils .
It never really got going as a Capitalist or Industrialised nation , and like many states around the Mediterranean shore it has lagged behind north-eastern European Development .
And of course latterly over-enthusiastic infrastructure development too fast too soon by an incompetent and sometimes corrupt government and their politically appointed functionaries has led to unsustainable over-borrowings and the present economic collapse .
