The same reason why all other people can (or are slandered to) be racist, incl so-called "Black" people: why they (along with their Middle Eastern brothers, Radhanites in particular) were so racist towards Europeans to the extent of enslaving and genociding millions of them in Northern Africa? WHY? And why they're not punished? Why don't they feel sorry?

I doubt Russians as a whole are racist. I dated a Russian guy(born and raised in Russia) for awhile and he told me that Russians don't have a problem with people who aren't white; and I'm mixed. Of course there's going to be bad apples everywhere, mostly in rural areas, but in the city blatant racism is not common.
Racism? No! But if you'll disturb the public order, then people will remember where are you from, so, you should not do stupid things - trip to Russia isn't for such people.
American and European aren't races. It's Caucasian, aka White. If you were black you might get a little less respect, but I don't think they're "KKK racist". American, you would also get a frown here and there because they're not too fond us. But you're not going to get beat up or jail like a gay person would.
Everywhere there are racist people, but most people visit Russia with no problem in racism.
Tourists are welcome, but if you come in thousands, than yes. Fellow Europeans are always welcome. You have identical culture, and you mix pretty well.
