Sinn Fein is the political wing of the IRA who have slaughtered thousands in the quest for a united Ireland. If the people of Northern Ireland want to be Irish citizens, they can easily choose that course for their future. But they do not. The majority wish instead to remain British. It is their free democratic choice.

Whatever Sinn Fein tell you, they are the political wing of the IRA, which until the ceasefire in 1999, murdered thousands of people in the name of Irish nationalist terrorism. They nearly killed me when they bombed Harrods. I grew up in London with always having to look out for abandoned bags on public transport in case it might be an IRA bomb.
So don't be surprised that people don't like them very much.
Because generally people in England associated Sinn Féin and the IRA as one of the same thing, which they of course "were" and as Sinn Féin MLAs ( and TDs) do not sit in the British Parliament and from someone who lives in Ireland I personally think that makes it very clear they have not moved on from the IRA terrorist thinking they once were having spent many years in the Maze for the terrorist murders they committed..... and I speak as someone who knows most of them personally
I think it's because they were involved with the IRA who carried out bombings and terrorism and do not respect Northern Ireland's wish to remain in the UK.
