Why is Spain poor?

Barcelona is not Spain, it's Catalonia. We are business-orientaded and hard-working in Catalonia.

What you explain is rubbish, we don't sleep siesta here in Barcelona.

It seems your travel did not help much to know where you were.

It's evident that you have never been to Spain, you are only inventing, basing your inventions on stereotypes.

Don't come to Spain, we don't need people like you, we have lots of well educated tourists coming who know to appreciate cultural sights, history, arts, and landscapes and they are every year more and more.

By the way, who cares your theory?

Spain and the Spanish are around the 30th richest nation in the world - and they have no oil! (Japan is 22nd and the Philippines are dirt poor at 127th.)

Next time get a decent tour. You may have to pay more but... .

spain is one of europes richer nations, i have been there and life is as good as in france or italy.

Poor is a relative term. Every country has poor people for various reasons. Spain is definitely not considered a poor nation when compared to other 3rd world nations. Most of Africa or southeast Asia is much more "poor".

Spain is not poor at all...just a little in crysis!

Hm.. my theory is, they've already spent all their money which they got from their colonies in South America and Philippines, they're gold reserves just can't keep up with their lazy attitude (manyana habit).

Seriously, I went to Barcelona last 2010 for a tour. I was with two Americans and a Japanese, with four of my Filipino classmates .our teacher and guide to be was a local, and guess what she was late for 30mnts., the Americans and Jap were furious.

It's not an isolated event, it happened several times with different locals that we encountered. They also sleep in the afternoon, I'm like "What's up with that?", and urgh...

Don't know with you but they're habits reminded me the people in the province back home
