Turkey is the one of the fastest growing countries in the whole world. I don't think we need to join EU. Firstly, we are not European, nor christian and we don't share a common history with Europeans.
Turkey doesn't want to get into a sinking ship. Istanbul (Crowded city in the turkey.), just Istanbul has a greater economy power than each of 12 EU countries!! Think about that, why would we wanna join?
They are some way off meeting the financial and human rights standards required to be accepted, but maybe in a few years this will change.

There is one problem_ Europeans don't want Muslim nation in their region.
We only need to be christian, because EU doesn't want muslims in EU.
Turkey is rising as a power of its own, no Turkey wont be a little toy of Europe, EU is a coalition of Germany&Franse exploiting other little countries and cooperating or doing rivalry with England, nothing more! Turkey is still on it not to let go of the foreign investments and financial image other than that Turkish citizens started to get better treatment from their country and their wealth is increasing steadily, they do not look up to europe anymore. Europe wanted to divide Turkey and create Kurdistan in our south and then get Turkey into the union and by this way they would control their own oil-gas pipelines but with Erdo?an government Turkey intends not to let go of the tap and opening the taps for free, Turkey will get sweet cash and keep it in Its banks. Turkey is already in the custom union of EU and if EU does free trade agreement with USA and keep Turkey out of this again as they did with Korea-Japan ( But our ancesterial cousins also did the same agreement with Turkey to show their goodwill, we love them both so much ) Turkey has to push USA for it or have to abandon the customs union completely, thats why Turkey may consider entering the union in future but at this moment Turkey does nothing against its own interests but the stuff EU dictates, and pretty much Turkey will be the opener and closer of pipelines of EU with Russia
Considering Turkey destroyed much of Europe I doubt it hahaha, most European countries don't want Turkey in, but then again they still can't accept the fact that they got beat by the ottomans.
