Croats are a nation and South Slavic ethnic group at the crossroads of Central Europe, Southeast Europe, and the Mediterranean
Pretty sure they are. They are far more slavic than bulgaria for example. I think you can safely put them in the list of the most slavic countries on earth together with Ukraine and Poland.
Bulgaria, Serbia and Russia are way more complicated to fit in such term.
All i know about Croatia historically is that they had some slavic king known as Tomislav or so who managed to defeat the rapidly expanding bulgarian empire about 1200 years ago. He also did it with a smaller army.
