do all the Belgian people talk french?

Bq: do the Belgian love manga? I heard they produce manga as well as Japan and France. I also heard that there's a serial killer called kira after death note, who led to the banishment of the manga.

No, French, Flemish and German are the three official languages of Belgium and French is spoken maily in Wallonia. The Flemish or German speaking Belgian are more likely to learn French than the people in Germany or in the UK but not all of them can speak French. The Flemish speaking Beligan are the majority.

France and Belgium are know to produce some kind of comics called bande dessinée (drawn strip) or BD and more particularly bande dessinée franco-belge. It's not like mangas and not really like the usual american comics either.

If you know about Tintin, Asterix or Lucky Luke, well, they are Franco-Belgian comics.

Wikipedia gives a more detailed explaination about this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franco-Belg...

60% of Belgians speak Flemish (aka Belgian-Dutch or Southern-Dutch), the rest mostly French.

There's certainly manga & animé fans in Belgium but it's not big a scene (small country so nothing ever is). Mangas are sold in supermarkets, bookstores and specialty shops and such. There's also FACTS, the biggest comics/animé/science fiction convention in the Benelux ( http://www.facts.be/ ) but it's nothing compared to similar conventions in Japan or the US.

The comics that are most popular in Belgium are Belgian and French ones. Personally, I grew up reading comics like Buck Danny, Biggles, XIII, Sammy, de Blauwbloezen, De Rode Ridder, Blake and Mortimer, etc Also lots of Italian graphic novels. All very different from the Japanese styles.

The serial killer case you're talking about was this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manga_Murder

But no, manga was not banned because of it.

No, I think Flemish/Dutch is spoken by more Belgians than French.

yeah
