This year, the snow that fell covered many parts and even islands that very seldom see it. What is more it has taken many days to thaw, when usually it is a matter of a 2-3 days.
According to forecasts it is expected to snow again in those unusal places but this time with less fierce ways and amounts.
"As frigid air sinks into southern Europe, snow will pile up across parts of Greece and Turkey through New Year's Day.
The cold will combine with a storm tracking slowly from the Mediterranean Sea to Turkey to produce the lengthy snow event through Thursday.
This is the same storm that brought heavy snow to Romania earlier in the week."
