City of London - built by the Romans - now almost two thousand years old.
The Romans? Don't be ridiculous there was a London settlement a very long time before the Romans arrived.
Ar least as old as the Romans who built a city, Londinium, roughly where the City of London is today. Parts of the Roman wall can still be seen. However, evidence of even earlier settlements in tha area have been found, so a precise date cannot be given.
London colony (Londinium) established at the lowest bridging point they could find.
There was Celtic Iron Age settlement as well.
The Romans founded it about 45 AD - picking the spot as the first point where it was possible to put a bridge across the River Thames. There may have been a native village on the site before that, but that is impossible to detect.
