what comes to your mind when I say Greece?

My beloved Kalamata, with olive/orange/lemon trees, flowers, mountains and sea in the distance, neoclassical buildings, churches, traditional-looking houses, apartments with solar panels and antennas on every roof, old laika songs heard from someone's radio, motorcycles delivering pizza, the smell of 'γουρνοπουλα' (and the sight of it too, right in the middle of the sidewalk..!), neighbors speaking from balcony to balcony, Moiraraki carpets sold in unpronounceable colors, εξυπνε? σιτε? with....

Anyway, this is mainly the first image that comes to mind when I think 'Greece'. Maybe not the picture-perfect impression most people would normally have, but this is the kind of environment that feels like 'home' to me (..minus the two last aspects, which are optional).

The country

Fabulous holidays with excellent food and courteous inhabitants. A Greek Island holiday takes some beating.

Memories and scenes from the lovely holiday I took bouncing around the Cyclades a few years ago.

Santorini, the islands and the blue and white flag.

Crete.

My homeland.
