Craigslist has a big warning at the top of every page warning you about this thief. He is not a buyer. He is a thief.
This is a SCAM
The check will be fake but will take 3-4 weeks to bounce, long after the scammer has your dress and has resold it for cash
Craigslist is ONLY for face to face CASH transactions or you will always get scammed
I don't know why people ignore Craigslist's VERY clear scam warnings http://www.craigslist.org/about/scams
Read the third bullet point at the top and the second example of scams
There are a lot of off shore scam artists, who might bring up the need for you to wire some shipping fees to someone later.
Best to just deal with locals face to face, since there's no method for reviewing a buyer's credibility and history like on sites like Ebay.
Talking live on the phone will expose the more clumsy scammers operating from a script.
Never heard of a "certified check" lol
They probably are going to pay you (fake) and then ask you to wire money back, which of course is a scam. They wont say all that up front.
Craigslist is cash only person to person. Anything else is very questionable. Never accept a check of any kind for Craigslist items. Cash only.
Cash only ------ to get a certiffied or cashiers check they have to go to a bank. Tell them while there to forget a check and just bring the cash they were going to use to buy the check. Chances are you'll not hear from them again.
Who uses checks these days really
Don't do it can be a fake check
I have submitted a wedding dress. I got a text from someone saying they were interested, and wanted to pay by certified check. They never asked for me to ship it, nor did they state they would pay extra. Can someone please help me out!
