Am I crazy or correct? Rent?

While I understand your frustration, I would think seriously about withholding rent. I assume you notified the LL about the problem so why don't you contact him again and ask when you can expect this issue to be taken care? There could be any number of reasons why the ac hasn't been fixed yet. A reasonable attitude will get the problem taken care a lot faster than withholding rent.

Good luck.

These people don't know what they're talking about. Yes, you can legally withhold rent, but there is a very specific step by step process you must take in order to prevent risk of eviction. You can't just refuse to pay. You must properly notify the landlord of the issue, then notify them of your intention to legally withhold rent, then put the money in a separate account, etc., etc. Check out nolo.com. They even have form letters you can use. Good luck!

Did you report the problem in writing to your LL?

You have to allow the LL reasonable time to get it repaired. It's the weekend; the LL is not going to get someone out until Monday AT THE EARLIEST! And that depends on how booked the AC company is.

If you don't pay the rent, you will find yourself evicted.

Of course you pay rent. Your are living there, right? Without knowing what state you live in, most states give the landlord 14-30 days to repair the AC IF the AC is included in the lease. If it is not in the lease, the landlord is not required to repair it at all.

Did you move out? You pay rent unless you are forced to move out. Forced to move out, not decided to move out. You need the health department to condemn the place, then you don't pay rent.

If you don't pay all that will happen is you are evicted for non-payment and it gets attached to your credit report so everyone who needs to know will realize you are a dead beat

Call repair man, get fixed, try to contact LL, if high repair cost!! Deduct from rent, pay rent, include receipt for repairs, DONE!!!

You pay rent. Realize that repairs cannot always be made same day or next day.

I'm going with crazy.

My A/C been out in my apartment for 4 days now.

First let me say this its 107 degrees outside and my home is 98 degrees inside.

Do I pay rent? I know that I signed the document stating there will be A/C and since its out do I pay this month rent?

Once again it's 107 degrees outside and my house been 98 degrees for the past 4 days.

It got to the point where I left to stay with a family who A/C is working.

Do I pay this month rent or no? I just want to see what you guys have to say but I know I'm not paying this is insane.

Thanks!
