Apartment having bed bugs before you move in?

Posted at: 2015-03-04
This is a problem of what came first the egg or the chicken.New furniture has bed bugs.A furniture store is not immune to bed bugs.

You re gonna say there wer no bed bugs on the furniture you purchased.

The landlord is gonna say there were no bed bugs in the rental unit prior to you moving in.

Both have to decide which is right. While you are going back and forth as to who is right or wrong, who continue to have the problem of bed bugs?

I would make the problem known to the landlord through written communication, however, I would be looking in to how I would be able to rid myself of these vermin.

You might would want to educate yourself on the best methods of getting rid of these vermin. there are many solutions you would be able to find at Lowe's, Home Depot and perhaps Wal Mart. There might be other retail outlets that might sell products that would solve your problem.

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

"FIGHT ON:

Yes, bedbugs could have already been existing.

The first thing you have to do is contact the landlord and notify them in writing about the infestation. Whenever you notice a problem in a rental, your first step should be informing your LL in writing. You have a duty to notify them of issues and the written method documents this. They should get professional exterminators out ASAP. Don't take Chartlotte's advice. Bedbugs need to be deal twits professional and thoroughly.

Unless the landlord can prove you caused them, then you shouldn't have to pay. Of course, the landlord might try and charge you. You'll have to contest if they do. First thing would be to contest the charges in writing. If that doesn't work it could eventually go to court and you'd have to dispute the issue in front of a judge.

When i had bed bugs we just changed the bedcovers, and we also sprayed a linen spray on the bed and any type of wood, because bed bugs come through wood apparently but we also hooved the floor and they soon moved away well good luck with it :)

PROVE you did not bring them in on the new furniture or from home. Ask around and see if it is a common problem there then go from there but YES they very well could have been on the furniture you bought.

My boyfriend and I just moved into a apartment together his 21 and I'm 19 we have new everything (store bought) and about a week after moving in I started getting bite on my arms. We didn't think much but now I know for fact it has to be bed bugs cause I've seen three so my questions are can bed bugs already at a apartment cause we didn't bring from our parents houses if so do we have to pay to get rid of them cause I don't think we have to since we didn't bring them and if we do I'll be super pissed. I need so help :( I've never seen a adult one or egg just baby ones....
