Apartment land lord trying to evict me?

Cabbage doesn't smell bad. It's a staple food, and while many people are unfamiliar with the odor of it, there is no reason you shouldn't be free to cook whatever you like, whenever you like, as long as you didn't shovel it off the side of the road.

It doesn't sound like your landlord is trying to evict you. But you do have an obnoxious neighbor. I would first knock on his door and say something like, "Hi, it's me from upstairs. I couldn't help but overhear your remark about a smell, and I found a note on my door this morning. Is it possible the smell you're talking about is the food I'm cooking?"

You should also call the landlord and make sure that they know you're cooking food, and nothing else, and ask him if you are being ordered to change your diet to accommodate your neighbor.

You should also move out of that apartment as soon as you can. Home mortgage payments tend to be equal to or lower than comparable apartments nearly everywhere.

It's obvious they don't like the cabbage smell. Solution: stop cooking cabbage. When you live in apartments, you do have to modify your behavior due to your close proximity to other people. If you don't think you should have to do that, then your only choice is to move. And if the landlord wants to evict you, then he's already made that decision for you.

It would be pretty petty & a little stupid to evict a tenant over one smell complaint. What you got was likely just a warning which is also kind of stupid for a smell. Some landlords are just notice happy & like the exercise their printer. They cannot evict you for cooking. Landlords have tried with curry spices, that is also a very strong smell.

I would not bother confronting the neighbor. He does not sound very bright or tolerant either. All you can really do is explain to the landlord what the smell was.

EDIT: "my landlord and she said the only reason she did it was because my neighbor literally called for a 4 times in a day and complained " I get that too. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do just to make some petty jerk shut the hell up.

What did the landlord say to do. The odors of cooking can be unpleasant but if you are ventilating after cooking and putting the cooked food away it is only for a couple hours at most. Your neighbor is being a dick and I would not confront, he is looking for a fight. If you want to pimp him out, ask him to dinner.

No. Don't do anything until the landlord approaches you. Don't know what the terms of your lease are, but would find it very hard to believe you'd be breaching due to cooking cabbage. Don't worry.

Most likely the owner put that notice there so he could tell the complainer that he did something about it. Most stoves have a vent overhead and you could use that when cooking cabbage.

Cabbage does smell bad, but I doubt the landlord is trying to convict. Just don't reheat that stuff and you should be fine.

Tell them you only cook cabbage. You can't be evicted for that.

unless it is a lasting, offensive odor, I don't see how this can be a basis for eviction

check with your local housing authority, or even your state agency that regulates rentals/housing

can you not cook it in the microwave ? cabbage does smell foul.

So today i woke up and i had a letter on my door of my apartment, it basicly said someone called the landlord complaining about a bad odor coming from my apartment which has me puzzled since ive talked to my other neighbors and they said they haven't smelled nothing. I today i was cooking cabbage (I cook it twice a month) which we all no smells bad and went out side on the porch and what do you know my down stairs neighbor was out side and i heard them say "Damn its that smell again i can't get no peace around here" so i now what should i do? Should i confront them.

where is the part about you being evisted?
