Of course, you would rather pay $15 now instead of the damages. And you should have renters insurance for your personal belongings.
But it will not pay for these damages. That's not what it's for.
And you can count on more than a "couple hundred". Repairing and repainting walls and replacing carpet and cleaning will probably cost you a couple thousand.
Renters insurance doesn't pay for that type of thing anyway, even if you had gotten it earlier,, any more than your car insurance will replace the back seat if your dog pees on it or tears it up. There are home damages they cover, but not this kind.
Start figuring out how you're going to pay for the damages.
You are advised to check again with the insurer. The insurer will NOT cover the costs of repairs which you describe. Renter's insurance will cover damage costs to the house IF the damage is accidental (such as a kitchen fire which is your fault). But it is NOT going to cover damages from your pets.
You are confused. Yes they cover damge to the home but ONLY if caused by flood, accident or things like that. NO renters insurance will pay the landlord for damages caused by your dog. That is not what renters insurance is for. This is what your security & pet deposits are for.
HA HA HA. Do you really think that renters insurance will cover your lack of responsiblity???
Sorry, there is no insurance that will cover this.
YOU will be 100% responsible for all the damages in the apartment.
You do not understand what renter's insurance is.
do I buy comprehensive insurance for my car..it is a jalopy, runs great but cops around here are picky about cracks in windshield...glass deductible is 500...and 650 to replace...insurance is only 8 bucks per month...but the scrap value is only worth 400 bucks...got it???
The insurance covers your property from theft not damage like this. So no it won't help you.
YUSSSS
I currently live in an apartment, and my dogs have done a good amount of damage to the carpet and walls over the past two years we've lived here. I've considered getting renter's insurance before, but never got around to it. Now that I'm planning to move out in just over a month, I'm starting to stress over move out charges. If I were to purchase renter's insurance today, do you think they would cover my move out charges in a month? The insurance is only about $15 a month, so I'd much rather pay that than potentially have to pay a couple hundred in charges. My main concern is that they'll catch on to what I've done and ban me from using their company, which is the same company I get a great rate for car insurance from and I don't want to lose that. What do you think?
