Buying a Studio Apartment help?

If you are a first time buyer, do not buy anything until you are ready to relocate. In the meantime, work on bringing your income up and saving money. Look into various investments. WHEN you are finally ready to move, and after doing some research, you will be much more equipped to know what you want to do.

Did this house go through probate and everything in court? I only ask because people seem to think this step can be skipped and it cannot.

Sure you can do that.

Not if you don't want to - perhaps you could rent it out for a year or so.

In the US, outside of NYC, you don't buy apartments. Apartments are rental units. Condominiums are purchased.

Whether or not you have to live in it depends on the HOA association for the property. It will depend on what you intend to do with the property before you move to the area.

You would also need to discuss the tax implications with a tax professional - capital gains and occupancy have all kinds of rules.

Edit: Y!A no longer shows country of origin on the original question. This site is mostly Americans in the English language section, so it would be wise to post your country of origin in the original post so us Yanks don't waste our time giving out useless information.

If you need to add that you aren't in the US, it would be more prudent to place it as an update so future answerers don't have to click through the comments.

Hello. I currently live with my brother and sister in a house that used to be owned by my father who has sadly passed away. Anyways. It's been almost two years now. We are all ready to go our separate ways and was wondering if I bought a Studio Apartment with the money from the house. Would I have to live in it?

I ask this because. I plan to buy one in an area that suites me best and then find a job within that area before moving into the actual apartment. Can this be done?

It won't be for a while but I'm thinking in the future. In which will be about 1 and a half years from now. Anyone able to answer?

Serious answers only. Thank you.
