Can Buyers Agent Enter Home Without Notice?

Actually NJ requires 24 hours notice. And that is for the landlord showing the property. Not for the BUYERS agent to bring workers in to assess repairs. With the exception of one, the above posters are wrong. No one should be able to just use the key to enter without your consent with an hours' notice. Complain, file a complaint..or move, which youre already planning to do. Good luck.

Roofers can usually do things outside the house so I don't know why they needed to get inside.

You should understand contractors are busy this time of year and usually make $0 for an inspection or estimate and they're trying to close the deal.

once it's done, you'll have few, if any, agent or contractor visits. If the deal falls through, you'll have to go through it all over again.

Maybe one day if you have a rental and it's up for sale, you will nicely tell your renter to be patient - which is what your landlord should have done.

The landlord and the agents he's working with do NOT have to schedule inspections, etc. at your convenience, they just have to schedule them at reasonable times of day. A landlord never needs permission for him or someone he's sent, to access his property. Most states do require notice, which is simply the landlord telling you when they'll be there (you don't have the right to say no), but based on the other answers, that point appears to be moot.

You are getting courtesy calls which are not required under NJ laws.

You have a standing notice as you know the house is for sale with an offer. They can come anytime.

You can always complain. You never replied and she assumed yes.

New Jersey doesn't even require you to receive notice, let alone require your permission to enter in order to sell the property. Her license isn't in jeopardy. She did nothing wrong. She even gave you notice, which you should be grateful for.

New Jersey does not require notice given. You also cannot require them to come only when you are home.

They should give 24 hours notice. If they enter without giving notice you can treat them as an intruder.

Yes, can complain. But will it change anything? Probably not. You should move on (no pun intended).

Im renting a home that is up for sale. Theres a buyer. Inspection was done last week. The BUYERS agent contacted me at 3pm on Friday to ask if I would be home because the roofer needed to come at 430 to check the attic to see what repairs needed to be done. Clearly she'd already made the appt with the roofer w/o checking with me first. I told her I would be home for one hr as I had plans to leave. She asked if she could come and wait / the roofer and lock up when he was done. I didnt reply to that request. I didnt want her in my home w/o my being here or at the very least without the landlord or landlords agent.

We left the house as planned amd I sent her a text telling her that when she rescheduled to give me more notice and I would make sure someo e would be at home to let the roofer in. She replied "we're inside, we'll be done shortly". I never gave her permissions to enter. I guess since she k ew I was leaving the house she figured she would just let herself i and I wouldnt be the wiser. I tried calling her and she wouldnt pick up and I went back home and he had it out. She tried to double talk me and said we agreed on a time. She even made a snarky comment about 'her license wouldnt be in jeopardy for anything like this'. The landlord couldn't care less as she wants to sell and tramples over my rights whenever it suits her.

I am giving notice next month but ive had it with this agent. Can I make a complaint? Im in NJ.
