Yes. Most landlords will call all previous landlords for 2 yrs for a reference. Asking if you have had any noise complaints is part of a standard reference check. Yes the apartment would have put a notation in the file for your apartment.
It does not matter that you were not there. You are always responsible for all guest behavior when they are in your unit. Same as if they had caused any damage you are responsible for it.
They may or may not ask the question of whether or not you had complaints. Definitely do not respond by saying you had unauthorized people staying the house. Just fess up and say it was a one time thing to celebrate a big event. You know better now anre are very aware of neighbors and quiet neighborhoods.
Any complaints would be listed under his name, not yours. They file by offender not just address.
I was gone out of the country and had my boyfriend watch my apartment. Of course him and his friends got too loud and ending up having 6 people complaints in the one night. I am now moving to a house (or at least planning on it) and want to know will the people I try to move to check if I've had noise complaints? How could I tell/word it that it wasn't me and I have never had prior complaints. Is this on my record of my apartment complex? It wasn't even me I was across the country and the apartment people are rude so they had no mercy.
