Can I get put of my lease because of mold?

Fortunately it is harmless mold. Nothing toxic grows that fast. I am surprised any at all grows that fast. That is pretty fast. Are you sure you aren't looking at something like glue? flooring glue can be black.

Anyway, no, this will not effect you lease. The landlord can not safely close the hole just yet. It has to dry out first. This can take awhile, especially if you live in a humid area. If you have no other plae to shower the landlord may need you to stay elsewhere a couple of days since steam just slows down the drying process.

Mold doesn't grow in 4 days, and black mold isn't actually black, its' green.

You have a month to month lease, you don't need a reason to get out of it, you just give 30 days notice and move.

You don't have a lease by your own statement. It's not grounds to move out no notice. You can terminate the tenancy at will by providing 30 days' notice.

It is not black mold. Black mold is not black and can not grow within a few days...it takes weeks.

It's always an issue that landlords never want to fix, or they pretend to fix it by just painting over it or something. To solve the issue properly they would have to remove all the plaster and have a dehumidifier running for a couple of weeks, as well as putting you elsewhere temporarily, as the mold actully lives off the air you breathe out. It costs landlords a lot so they never want to do it, they will just pretend it's not there or pretend that you have somehow caused it, do pretend fixes, or just ignore complaints as what is happening to you. If you can't buy then don't use private landlords if you can help it, seek a social rent instead if there are services available where you are.

Your in a month to month lease you can leave with 30 days notice...or call code compliance and see if they will deem your house inhabitable until its fixed. It might have sewage too!

Black mold isn't black. It is probably mildew. Clean it with bleach water. It can take time to find someone to fix it. If it isn't done soon and you have had no contact call the health dept.

On Monday, water came from a leak from my neighbor upstairs. The only thing maintenance has done is look at his apartment, nothing else. Because of the water damage, the plaster and parts of the ceiling have come down. Mind you this is all in the bathroom from the neighbors toliet. They havent come back to fix it after many calls made to the landlord. I now see black mold growing all over the ceiling. Im currently month to month in my lease. Would I be able to break the lease because of this issue? Thanks.
