Other expenses are phone, car insurance and car payments, gas, electric, internet, cable TV, health insurance, food.
Food for 2 for a month is about $400. Internet $40, phone $50, gasoline $100, car payments ? and car insurance ? cable TV $60, credit card bills? I suggest you total your current bills and add to that your living expenses if you did move into an apartment.
You have to earn 3 times the rent in income. You may need a deposit for utilities and a security deposit as well as buying furniture.
I dont believe you can afford a 2-bdrm. until you both get full time jobs.
Not likely, I assumed you mean 600 total for two of you out of 1,400 gross leaving you 800 a month for everything else. Make a list of all your other expenses than add it up.
For example:
Food 250
Electric 50
Transportation 100
Medical, dental, vision 100
Gifts, things for apartment like cleaning supplies, 50
Clothing, shoes 50
Renter insurance 25
internet, electronics 25
Income taxes, social security 150
You won't have any money to save for your future and to handle times when you can't work so even if you crunch the numbers you need a major emergency fund and more income. If you ever want to eat out or date or anything you can't.
Wait until you are working full time and have saved some money.
It'll be hard. Many landlords will want to see evidence of gross income 3x the rent. But without major expenses it can be done.
600 what? Pounds, dollars, rupees? Without knowing which country you are in it is very hard to make that sort of judgement.
