Can we afford an apartment?

Most landlord require the tenant makes 3 times the monthly rent per month. So at his present job making and average of $600 every 2 weeks he makes approximately 1275 per month thus would only qualify for an apartment costing no more than $425 per month.

I don't know how much truck drivers make in their first year, but lets guess $3600 or $3000 per month. This would allow you to rent for as much as $1000 per month, but a more responsible rent would be $750. His rich parents may not be able to help, but he may need them to co-sign his first lease.

Rule of thumb is that you must take home three times the price of rent.

Now that you're old enough, no one tells you these numbers. Generally keep your rent low and guess what your income should be. Wait until you have some checks and really know the real numbers. Have a backup plan in case this does not work.

Good rule of thumb is to make sure your rent isnt more than one weeks pay. So, look around and see what basic rentals go for in your area, and calculate it from there!

google "for rent" where u live.

here, neither of u qualify to rent.

Here, to qualify to rent he/u must have 2 yrs work

exprience earning FOUR time the rent monthly.

ie -rent ia 400 - u/he both need to earn 1600 each.

u/he , here , will need one month rent, security month rent,

proven renters insurance application fees B4 u get keys

to move in.

u/he will need , here, extra 150 for electric deposits.

google local homeless shelters for clean cool place

to get cleaned up for job applications.

a camper shell on his truck can get u a place

to live for summers often.

if in USA, go to library to learn about careers/jobs

u can get from community colleges and make

good living incomes
