Can we break our lease for this?

You are not able to break your lease because of pest, bugs or other insects. You have to to contact your local city or county Department of Health to have them determine if a health problem exist.

Even then the landlord would be given a time frame in which to correct the problem, after which the rental unit would be re-inspected.

You would need to go to Lowe's, Home Depot, Wal Mart, Ace Hardware or any other retail outlet to purchase an inexpensive electronic to plug into your electrical sockets that will prevent these pest from bothering you.

Since you would plug them into your electrical outlets it might be that once you plug these devices into your wall electrical outlets the protection might spread to other units.

You might get other tenants to purchase these wall plugs also thus extending the pest protection in a greater area.

I have used these devices for more than 3 years now and have not had a roach problem since installing them.

Of course they have improved on them and the devices not cover more pest such as ants and spiders.

You would find these electronic devices in the pest control department of the store you decide to purchase them from. Read them carefully so you will be able to select the one that would give you the maximum protection.

The good thing about the use of these devices, is you are able to take them with you when you move.

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

'FIGHT ON"

No. Your LL is addressing the issue and is making good faith efforts to combat the problem. Therefore you cannot break your lease without financial penalty due to the roaches.

If your lease contains an early termination clause, pay the fees as outlined and move. If not, talk to management and ask how much it will cost you to terminate the lease.

Sorry but as long as the landlord has made a good faith effort to fix the problem you are still required to stick with the lease. You could try talking to him about getting out early and see what he says

NO as long as they are treating the infestation you have no legal grounds to break the lease.

Your neighbors have no right to refuse treatment. You landlord needs to grow a pair & assert their rights.

People don't get to not allow them to. They do it whether they like it or not.

They are attempting to rectify the situation, you will have a tough time breaking at this time.

Here's the deal our entire apartment complex has a roach infestion and the landlord has made attempts to fix it by getting bombs and spraying the apartments but certain people will not allow them to so we're still getting roaches no matter how many times we clean or bomb/spray there still there! Now my question is we have a year lease that's not up yet but can we break without having to pay because of how bad the roaches are yes I know the landlord has tried but I don't feel comfortable living here anymore I have a 1 yr old daughter who now has to sleep with me and husband due to the fact roaches crawl on the wall above her of course if I see them I kill them but I'm not taking chances so what should we do from there because we really can't afford to pay to 400 dollars to break the lease then put down another deposit for an apartment and first months rent for that.
