A person should only "buy and sell" things they fully understand. DO not sucked into schemes. Do not attempt to make huge amounts of money in a short time- those are ideas fed to suckers. Yes a person can use lots of methods to make money - real estate and stocks are two ideas. Both of these can also lose a lot of money.
