You are putting your credit worthiness on the line and you could be limiting your ability to obtain credit in the future. (such as a mortgage or a low interest auto loan). If the father does not pay, guess who is responsible? Yep, YOU
That means that daddy needs money to bring his mail order bride over to the US.
Never, never, never, never co-sign for anyone unless you are willing and able to pay the debt yourself (and especially not if you don't know the person).
Take care
"Cosign" WHAT would be my first question. I doubt that cosign is even the correct term for this.
NEVER CO_SIGN FOR ANY ONE.
my friend asked me to do her dad (who I don't know) a favor. she asked me to cosign for him for a year... for a person...?... this is what she said specifically.
"he cant find a cosigner. He jst need a cosigner for one year to bring his new wife (a foreighner whom I'm guessing doesn't have a green card) to the States. Can you help him?"
What does this mean? I've heard about needing a cosighner for renting apartments, but a person? What are the risks to this? are there any to me? It feels like it would be illegal or something if I cosighned whatever it is, not knowing the man, or the person he's trying to bring over. is it? thanks to anyone who can help! :)
