Electricity bill very high?

You would need to have our energy provider check the meter to see if the meter is working properly and is calibrated.

You would want to be present when the meter is checked, so as to have first hand information as to any problems found.

In a few instances a utility company would average the cost of utilities per month. This bill might be based on the usage of the prior tenant, even though they might have turned the utility off and you had it turned on in your name..

Some utility companies no longer drive by to check your meter as in the days of ole. Those that do have calibrated meter reader that when aimed at you meter should give a good reading. This meter reader might not be calibrated properly.

Failure of your utility provider to be of assistance, you might check with the state of California Consumer Affairs Department.

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

"FIGHT ON"

Call the power company again. Ask them to come check that no one is stealing your power. It is possible that someone is. If they balk at that you mention to them that you are very concerned about a possible fire hazard. That should get them out there, I am surprised they did not come already.

While it is f-ing hot in Lemoore, this bill is still more then twice what it should be, and even that is if it is a pretty large house. Something is wrong here, so don't give up seeking help. If this does not work ask again and we'll come up with more ideas for you.

Yea Air conditioning eating perhaps 1KWH or more can more than double your bill, but still that 600 sounds insane. House guests cranking the window AC raised out CA rate from $20/mo to $93.

Ask your neighbors what their bills are, there's that remote possibility than someone is tapped into your power, stealing juice.

Can you see the electric meters and maybe old style spinning wheels for your apartments. You might be able to take your own weekly reading of other units to see if they compare.

You should try to get the actual KWH consumption specs for your AC unit, you should then be able to do the math to see if it nearly makes sense.

Many times when you start service at a new address a deposit is included in the first bill or it could be past due from the previous renters

You need to improve your home automation system and to rely on natural cooling system by using shades in windows so you can moderate the temperature and lighting system.

Installing motorized shades can save your energy consumption.Motorized shades can be connected to or integrated into home automation systems. This allows the user to control all the home systems from one interface – shades, lights, temperature, audio, video, security, and even irrigation.

We live in lemoore, ca. With only my husband and 2-month old baby, our apartment is pretty small and we just moved in here july12. However, we received a bill from pg&e that our bill is almost 600 for 46days billing period. We don't even have a tv, doesnt run the dishwasher and opens the aircon only at night, we have 1 laptop and 2cellphones. Any ideas how is it like that? We tried talking to pg&e customer service and they keep on saying that it is the aircon that makes it high. While we have a house in san diego, which is 5br, and only have 200-300 bill to pay.. just want some answers please. So i can clear it up on pg&e, because they are not listening, and we are saving money for our baby that's why we moved.into a smaller apartment. Thank you so much!
