Everything about how to live on your own at 18?

In a nutshell, you need to earn more than you spend.

With regards specifically to rent; landlords will require you to be earning 3 x rent a month, to ensure you're going to have enough to pay your other costs (utility bills, tax, food, other household shopping such as washing up liquid and toilet roll, transport, clothes, going out, insurance). You'll also need sufficient savings to be able to pay a deposit and the first months rent up front.

At 18, its highly likely a landlord will also require you to have a guarantor; ie an adult with a solid credit rating and income who will pay rent if you don't.

Haven't you observed how your parents managed the house for the last 18 years? If you don't know, ASK your parents about employment opportunities, how income is managed such as mortgage/rent, utilities, food, auto expenses, insurance, entertainment, savings, checking account, food expense, purchasing furniture, electronics, clothing, prescriptions etc. It's all common sense but ask if you're unsure how some of it works.

I disagree. Just inquiring about living on my own, does not mean, therefore, I need to stay home as long as I can. I will never know if I don't experience it or ask, I think that's silly logic. But thanks anyway.

If you have to ask ... you're not ready for a while. Stay at home as long as you can.

it really does start with good job; and to have a good job, you need an education or skill; thus you need some time of college or education after high school.

you need an income large enough to pay the bills.

To start off with, I'm still in high school. How does an 18 year old female go about living on her own? This might be a lot to ask, but can anyone tell me EVERYTHING there is to know about living on your own? Income wise, job wise (I do have one, but I'm planning on hopefully getting a better one), housing rise, rent rise, life wisdom wise? I'd really appreciate it, thank you!
