You mentioned that you lived in a rural area, so some things I suggest may not work, but nevertheless, here's what I have:
===If you know of any senior citizens that are home bound, why not ask them if you could do grocery shopping, organizing a part of their house, doing the laundry and folding clothes, weeding or even digging up a garden (for planting), or help writing letters for them.

-----Garden and seed sale. (You can ask for people to donate new or 'used' seeds.)
