Getting kicked out of the house.?

Posted at: 2015-03-04
Sorry I don't think you will be getting the rent house in 300$ and by chance you get it also it would be for the single not for the couple, but if you convince your parents then you can save your 300$ also and a family support also so choice is yours better sleeping outside house homemade food is good, think carefully before taking any step.

So, if you pull in $1200.00 per month, how much are you paying your parents for room and board for you and your girlfriend? Nothing?? Shame on you.

Your parents have no legal obligation to support you, you are an adult, and they surely do not have any obligation to support your girlfriend.

You want an apartment for less than $300.00 per month?? Living in a tent would be more expensive than that.

$300 a month isn't going to happen. Student loan time.

It's unfortunate that you are getting kicked out. First, I'd encourage you to make amends if conflict is the reason you are getting kicked out. It's your best option.

You are going to have a hard time finding even a room for $300/month.

Has your GF considered taking out a student loan while she is school. Presumably, with a master's she can bring in more money and repay them. $1200/month is very very tight for two people.

You will have a hard time finding anything to rent on that income. A room in a house is about the only option & many of those will not rent to a couple.

Sorry to hear that your relationship with family has deteriorated. Perhaps you didn't contribute enough to help around the house.

It's time for you to start investigating jobs that pay better. It's time for her to add a part time job. I am not her and she is not me, but I worked 20-30 hours per week during undergrad.

You guys are going to need to move in with her family or you will need to find a roommate situation. At $1200/month take home, you can get approved for $400/month, assuming everything else is ok. With that, you should be able to get one bedroom of a three bedroom place, or convert an office in an apartment/home into a bedroom.

Your restaurant employer is required to pay you minimum wage if you do not make up for it in tips during any given shift. If you are working more than 4 hours shifts as a sever, he is required to meet state or federal minimum wage (which are both $7.25 for you) by increasing your pay to meet min wage. Which means you need to be averaging $5.13/hr in tips to meet the standard. If you are working someplace where you aren't getting tipped $5/hr, you need to find new work.

Edit: Ask your parents if you can pay *them* $300/month for rent while you pursue a better job.

As others have noted, $300 isn't enough. But you've also been given good advice on how you ought to be able to earn a lot more--$2,400, at least. And I agree that your "fiance" ought to be working, too.

You need to spend more than $300 a month for an apartment. By the way at age 29 I would not say you were kicked out. Your parents graciously allowed you and a woman to live there for years. You should be thankful.

you make $1200 and want to find a place to rent for $300?

probably not possible except maybe a room in someone's home, pretty much like what you already 'had' and are being separated

So I'm 29 years old and my parents are basically kicking my fiance and me out of the house. She is still getting her BA and minor and won't graduate til maybe next spring. I work 2 jobs and pull in about $1200 a month. So my question is: Is their cheap appartments for less than $300 a month in Charlotte NC?

How are you working two jobs and only pulling in $1200/month? How many total hours per week do you work?

If you were working one full time job and one part time job for a total of 60 hours a week at $10/hour that would be $2400/month.

And how many hours does she work per week? If none, that changes NOW. Many, many people work and go to school at the same time.

For $300/month you might get a room in a boarding house. You will have to share a bathroom and kitchen with other boarders.

ETA: How can she be working on her MA? She doesn't even have her BA yet according to your question. Either way, she should be working.

If the sum of your server wage plus your tips is less than minimum wage ($7.25 in your state) your employer must make up the difference. This federal law. If you are only getting $35/day you are only working about 4.5 hours.

Working two part-time jobs only five days a week is the equivalent of ONE job. You need to get a second job (which really means a third job).

You could put up a tent in one of the pastures at my farm, about 150 miles from Charlotte, if you would also help take care of animals and mend fences. Perhaps you can find a deal like that closer to Charlotte.

Or perhaps you can figure out how to make $1200 per week instead of per month.
