What websites or resources do you use to promote your music work the best?
Here are some ways to promote your music:
1) Find stores and ask them to play your music (grocery stores, clothing stores, a gym, etc.)
2) Upload songs to YouTube and drive attention towards your videos via social networks
3) Call the local government and ask to use a venue to perform (the beach, a park)
4) Contact record labels and hope to get signed (they will do the work for you)
5) Put music on iTunes for 99 cents
Start locally, and then grow outwards. Spread the word in your city (target high-schools and colleges). From here, if people like your music, they will share the songs with their friends and so on.
Note:
1) Make sure you have a proper YouTube channel (good name, videos of music only)
2) Make sure you have an account on every social network to maximize awareness
Last Tip: Go to a busy area and make people listen to the music and give them wrist bands with the name of the band or singer.
There are lots of different sites on the internet to help promote your music. Social media, particularly Twitter and Youtube are helpful. Twitter is an open network where you can contact anyone at anytime. Find music industry executives through a search (advanced search on Twitter is great) and try to become friends with them. Talk about a common interest first before bringing up the artist. Then once you establish a relationship, bring up the artist in a casual way. It takes some social skills but it really works.
