In America especially in places like Las Vegas sure £28k will buy you a rental.
Here are some tips:
America has some INSANE rules, they call these codes. BEFORE YOU EVEN CONSIDER getting into american rentals, make sure you research and team up with someone already in there, otherwise you are just going to get served violation after violation. Stupid things too like how long you can let the grass grow.
No im not joking you can get a violation for having grass in your yard too long! i know i did. so be VERY aware they have very strict rules. Hence its easier to find a realtor and work with them building up an asset base and learning. BTW eventually you get the free business visa to usa :D once you get enough wealth.
If you buy a house in the US and you live in England you can only go there for holidays so most of the time it will be vacant. Have a look in Burnley, Blackburn, Nelson areas of North West UK and you might find one there for the same amount that you can visit more often.
Just because you own a house in the US doesn't mean that you will be able to live in it full time. You will only be able to live in it for holidays.
Houses are very cheap if they are in bad condition and/or in areas that are depressed. The same as in the UK. You can can find a very cheap, bad house in the north of England.
But it could still be a scam. You should not be buying property in the US unless you are experienced and have a good lawyer.
If it sounds to cheap it may be a scam. The cheapest houses in the USA generally run about $90,000 and up depending on the area.
If the seller claims to be out of the country and wants you to send them a deposit to hold it, then it si a scam for sure.
I an a Canadian who owns US property and the cheapest places are in Nevada, Arizona and Florida. With the southeast states next. Avoid Florida as the humidity there wrecks unoccupied houses. I bought in Las Vegas in 2011 at the bottom of the market.
It is most likely a computer glitch, although it could be a scam as well
America is a very very big place, you need to be more specific as to the location. For example in Detroit , MI right now you probably get a house for that price but it is in a very undesirable neighborhood.
I'm looking to buy a house in America I the future as I currently live in England.. I'm just browsing on the internet at houses for sale and I've found a 7 bedroom house and the price doesn't seem realistic.. £28,000 I double checked to see if it was actually for sale not rent and it is.. So there must be some other reason because no way is it that cheap.. Sorry I'm new to this, I live with my parents so im a first time buyer
