Thirdly, if you really want to improve it, just attract more visitors to your site who have the toolbar installed ---- just install it in your browser and get a few friends to do the same and have them visit the site a few times each day. this just shows you why it is so useless as a metric, as it is that easy to fake.
Only way to get it is install alexa toolbar in every place the site is opened, or viewing. If the project has been going under a company make sure alexa installed in every system, you can get better rankings

It's actually depends on your backlinks and SERPs . Well if you back-link properly to your website and target some organic audience from search engine. try good social media marketing service.
