Don't let all this talk of SEO and pageRank put you off, it's really very simple. SEO is just a properly coded website so that search engines like Google can look at them and pick out the important bits easily. The easier it is for Google to read your site then the more Google will come to your site to read and re-rank it.
The most important part of any blog is getting the traffic to your blog, there are many ways to this but i'll just list a few:
- Search Engine Traffic (Google)
- Adverts
- Social Media (Twitter, Facebook)
Make all the right contacts (which will be people who are also bloggers blogging about the same subject) and you'll be laughing! You'll be making money in no time at all.
Of course you need to make money from the traffic, which there are also many ways to do so:
- Sell affiliate products (You advertise someone else’s product and earn commission when someone buys it through your site)
- Pay-per-click adverts (You earn commission for everyone who clicks an advert on your site)
- Sell your own product (eBooks, audioBooks, Guides, Tutorials, Premium Content - The possibilities are endless)
It's simple if you think about it, the formulae for say.. Pay-per-click adverts such as Google adSense can be broken down to this:
Traffic + Advert Click = $$$
I hope this gives you a little guidance, you can find everything you need on this subject at my dedicated money making blog http://scrapbookmoney.com.
An amateur blogger probably makes anywhere between .01 and 5 bucks (maybe...) a month. There really isn't that much money in it.
If you keep blogging steadily for several years, yes that's years, you may (or may not) make a decent living out of it.
To make even a little (like 5 dollars) you need hundreds of unique visitors a day; more depending on you r niche(you'd be in the travel niche). Some niches get more clicks than others. And generating even a few unique visitors isn't easy; you must practice seo and get alot of backlinks and rank on the search engines. But best of luck to you.
For finest WEB OPTIMIZATION outcomes We highly recommend applying Google Search Bot: http://is.gd/gsbsoftware Applying that software program We've graded my site to very first page of Google on a extremely high aggressive search term.
the average amateur blogger makes $0.
two different ways.
1. you can make your own blog and do the seo work and everything yourself.
2. Be an article writer for a blog that needs writers. they usually pay about 50-100 dollars per article if you find the write ones.

I know that bloggers don't make much money, but i'm planning on going on a gap year and i'm trying to find ways to make money (even if its not a lot, but every bit counts).
I was thinking of making a travel blog (as i will be traveling). I know it might sound silly but it's just an idea right now and i'm trying to find out more about it.
I know that you can make money by putting adverts on your blog, but I don't understand how it works? is it the amount of visitors or the amount of clicks that counts? and how much does an amateur blogger make on average?
